This text was prepared by Anita Muchilwa and Jyl Blackshaw, using as copytext, Czechoslovak Fairy Tales retold by Parker Fillmore, and illustrated by Jan Matulka, New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1919.
Since this book was first published before 1923, it is in the public domain in the United States. By U.S. law, it entered the public domain 75 years after its first publication.
One color illustration and numerous woodcuts, by Jan Matulka, are included in the text. There is a header page before each story that includes the title of the story and an accompanying woodcut. These are included when you display the whole book by setting &story=_all in the URL, but not when you select individual stories.
